Interesting concept

A concept that I found interesting in chapter 14 is the ethics part of persuasive speaking. I didn’t know that public speakers had to meet the National Communication Association’s standards of ethical communication. I didn’t know that they had to meet certain standards in order for a public speaker to present their speech. A public speaker can not degrade individuals in their speech if they want to present it. So if a public speaker doesn’t uphold to the NCA’s standards what will happen to the public speaker? I thought that people could say what ever they want because of our first amendment.
