Drinking video:
The attention getter really grabbed my attention because I was like “what is he doing?” It was a good way to start off his speech and a good way to tie in with his topic. Matthew had some good facts about his topic and he had visuals for his audience to see. The way he tied everything at the end together was a good way to provide closure. From Matthew’s speech I learned that there are no boundaries to my attention getter and it always better to see visuals.
Pollution video:
I didn’t really like this video that much because she didn’t really do anything to grab my attention and she started off with “Hi my name is….” From this video I learned not to start off like how she did and to meet the requirements of the speech.

sheryl,
ReplyDeletehaha i thought the same thing as well, i was like, "what the hell is he doing" he surprised me in the beginning when he started coughing. yes, that is a good attention grabber, definitely got my attention. you could tell his speech was well prepared because of all the information that he was presenting as well as the great closure. the second video, i didnt get as much as i expected too. nothing really stood out to me at all. i like the way you think sheryl, we think very much alike, you cool but still, hawaii is wamp. haha
Hey Sheryl,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the drinking video did have a good attention grabber. I think that is one of the most important components of a speech because if the audience is not engaged, more than likely they are bored and not really enjoying the speach. So I think that video was helpful but the other one was just like whatever. lol. But yeah just take the tips off of these videos because I think having a great attention grabber is key.
Hi Sheryl! I am glad you were able to apply a couple of concepts from your speech by watching these videos. Was there anything good that you noticed while watching the Pollution video? If so, what can you incorporate into your speech from this particular video?
ReplyDeleteHi Sheryl,
ReplyDeleteI also agree with your opinion on the attention getter of the speech. As he coughs, audiences will pay attention and like you said "what was he doing". I just wonder what your attention getter will be when your speech comes and I hope it's a funny one!
